7(a ) can be done by yourself (you lazy arse) while 7(b) is essentially easy.

now, we start off by defining f(x) to be the left hand side of the equation in 7(b), i.e.

and by newton’s method, the approximation of the root a is:

and when n=0, it is the initial approximation (smart guess)

I believe I have at least done it once, an approximation method? remember, beng?

anyway. lets start with an approximation of WHERE is the !#$@ root, shall we? by 7(b), we know that -1 < a < 0;

so lets start with x = 0 as our first approximation.

this will be our first approximation by the newton’s method. no more guessing now.

performing it a second time gives:

yeah.

Now, moving on to question 9, I am will be using two ideas to solve this, namely

Integration (i.e. the EXACT area)
Riemann summation (overestimation and underestimation)

alright. here’s the graph of 1/x , or so i think it is.

so the question basically asks you to estimate the area graph in two ways : by overestimation and underestimation.

by overestimation, they mean taking the sum of the following shaded rectangles

as you can see, the area obviously Overestimates the area underneath it, duh, right?

anyway, the area of a single rectangle taken at x = n is

summing it over n to 2n – 1 (why? think about it yourself) gives the following sum:

which is bigger than the exact area of the graph between n to 2n.

On the other hand, the area which underestimates it is this:

Now, try to digest the graph and the area properly, as think about the area of a single rectangle in this case is this :

while the sum, is essentially this: (now think, why? )

while the ACTUAL area under the said graph from n to 2n can be easily determined by integration.

Then one could make the obvious inequality of underestimate < exact < overestimate

as required.

Crazy derivatives? Think again.

A good way to look at these questions are to note that each and everyone of these are products of functions, and you know what to do with antiderivatives of those, don’t you? you little furry beng kiat.

Actually, today I shall use a simpler method called integration by substitution.

The key to using that method is to properly identify parts of a factor of that product which is similar to parts of another factor.

by considering the standard triangle formula 1/2 bh where b = base length and h = perpendicular height

then, sin C = h/AC

or h = AC sin C

I know, its a sad thing for me.

The BB has brought us together, through many journeys as stupidly ridiculous bunch of psycho-maniacs especially during our form 4 and form 5… and slightly beyond that.

A glance through the archive can bring many, many joyful memories, of which includes many events and activities done as a bunch of psycho-maniacs, and others which are basically emo posts but who else but B.E.#.

but most of them were good stuffs. real awesome stuffs.

Though it pains me to say this but, i bet neither of us would be willing to see it go, not like this. not like this when the funeral procession has only a person, and a half done story of whom nobody wants to continue.

so yeah. Lets all bow down in silence and mourn our good friend here

very EVILL Queen named Kar Yee! She longed to rule the world, and she plans to manipulate the very nature of time and space to achieve her desired intentions to extend her talons to the 4 corners of the universe.

On the other hand, few centuries back, a young man, who woke up from a deep slumber he had, found himself in the back alleys of Whispering Glades, with no apparent memory whatsover, just a dogtag with the name written:

Sir Wanker.

Brushing cowebs off his scraggly face,the young man rose to his scrawny feet. Calm resonated through his mind as he tried to recall something about himself. Anything.
Doing what his aching brain told him to do, he searched for clues. First, he scanned his surroundings; nothing came up. Just that he had slept in an average pile of cat poopie, nothing magical about that.
Then, he looked to the skies, nothing came up too. No magically written sign in the clouds to guide him. Only after some time did the young man thought to search himself.
And search himself he did till he found a white stain on his pants, that may have explained the name on the dogtag.
AND a scrap of paper with a mangy scribble on it-
"YE OLDE PUB shall be thy next stoppe".

.....On the other 'leg', a couple of seconds ago, a boy was desperately kicking the ass of a vending machine-if it had any-, complaining about his tough luck for the day. He had a horrible dream of some horrible witch(l4d2 rocks!) cursing horribly with her horrible looking fingers, pointing at him and yelling with her croaking, horribly spasmodic voice,

" YOU WILL AWAKE LOOKING LIKE A HAG, "

and he did awoke looking somehow like that,

HOLY MOTHER!

.....but not literally, it was just a temporary horrified expression that caused the similarity. In fact, he was a pretty boy looking like this...

.... back to the vending machine. well, Ee was pitiful, he had his unfortunate day confessing to his crush of the DAY, only to receive a generous shower of love from his angel of the DAY. Splendid! he thought aloud. Anyway let's just cut the chase and proceed to the scene of 'crime'.

Step 1 : Confess.

Step 2 : Observe reaction from the oppposite sex.

Step 3 : Accept the ending.

Where are we heading in the rat race for straight A's?

An illusion of immense and destructive proportions is percolating irrevocably within our education system with much reverberations whose ripple effects are yet to be manifest, albeit already felt in the air.

One that appeals to the egoistic nature of students, evermore justifying grounds for taking an extraordinarily excessive amount of A's. Take, for instance, the recent trend of fifth formers taking up extra subjects for their SPM examination. Upon sober reflection, when has this trend actually emerged?

Noteworthy is the fact that such a trend did not manifest in the late 90s, but only AFTER the acquisition of A’s of a surplus amount elicited public attention and highlight. Since then, the race for A’s has seemingly been on an inexorable, exponential rise. It has even been regarded as a record to be held.

While some people may see this as a benefit to education system, care must be taken lest the purpose of the examination be distorted and veiled. Indeed, the current emphasis on academic performance heralds a looming, though unforeseen catastrophe to be unfolded disastrously within the nation in the distant future. Then, human capital will be no more than a functional asset(Worthless) to the country whose work serve the sole raison d etre(purpose) of its mechanical existence.

When the race for A's finally over, it will take on another form, one of personal judgement that may well herald an unforeseen era of prejudice, based not on the real individual, but rather, his or her paper qualifications.

With regard to the former, the race for supremacy and superiority over the rest, will take on a new unprecedented dimension. The glory of achievement, as well as the scar of failure, will inevitably remain perpetual throughout the course of an individual’s life. From a national perspective, the course towards which our education system appears to be heading, seems more dangerous than it is promising.

Is our current evaluation of individual achievement based on straight A’s an embodiment of justice? Does a scholar who obtains straight 10A1’s take precedence over his or her “less perfect” counterpart who secures 2 A1’s and 8B's?

Our examination system, sad to say, is not one that seeks a holistic(whole formed) approach of assessment.

Perhaps it’s time to adopt a new education policy. Take, for instance, the malaysian history test. To have an immeasurable, seamless ocean of information and facts compacted for evaluation into a mere 2 and a half hour test (History 2nd paper) whose nature of assessment is therefore measurably constricted, is tantamount(equal) to stuffing a tonne of flour into a paper bag while expecting to secure its contents.

The random selection of topics for the test no longer exemplifies a wholesome, overall picture of the subject fit for evaluation. For example, Chapter 6 of the form 4 history is a colossal chapter indeed, it required much memory work especially taking into consideration its religious nature of facts which is naturally alien to most non-Muslim students. The unfair random selection of topics for evaluation is compounded by the paradoxical fact that the topics aren’t really that “random” after all; some candidates had had the privilege of hindsight beforehand, having been given so-called “tips” that turn out to be true. Little is left to the imagination as to the source of such reliable information.

I look forward to a day when examinations no longer dominate the hearts of the young ones, spared thus of the heartache we experience at the present yet driven by a source of motivation of a different nature. A future whereby paper qualifications do not solely represent individual ability and efficiency.

Beyond the examination, after all, lies a life yet to be lived.

There was once a teenage boy and a teenage girl.
They were in love since their pre-teen years.
They had their quarrels and misunderstandings, yet they still loved each other dearly.
Sadly, after years of courtship. Girl fell gravely ill. and was left confined in her bed.

Although boy still loved her so, he was often too busy with his 'stuff' to visit her as much as girl wanted.

When girl died. It was a miserable day. rain was falling from the heavens and clouds were blocking out the sun. Following the funeral, boy went to girl's house. He was taking it pretty hard. Girl's mum walked up to boy and said : this is her diary, she didnt want you to see it. But I want you to keep it. You were everything to her.

Boy went up to girl's room and sat down on her bed. He sat there thinking about how little time he had spent with her and wishing soo much that he had a chance to do it differently.Realizing that he was clutching girl's diary tightly, boy opened it up. There, on one page, she had written a single line.
"Yesterday he spent an hour with me and it was like heaven; I love him so."

Something dawned on him that he had not noticed before. He had been too busy to remember that he meant soo much to her. He though of all the times he had gave excuses to not visit her.
Then, boy turned a page in the diary. There he noticed that she had written some words that broke his heart.
" Mommy said that you'd come.
I have listened all day to hear the doorbell ring, but now it is late and I guess you won't come today."

Boy read a little more of girl's diary. Then he threw it down and ran out of the house.
Some of his friends found him at her grave, miles away, face buried in the mud. His eyes were red from weeping. Tears continued streaming down his cheeks. and boy only kept repeating over and over again "If only I'd known , If only I'd known." But it was late, too late.

Years later, boy changed.

He was now more heartless than ever!!

Super junior consists of 13 members who have great sense of humour and are all really really REALLY talented in their own ways.
Tak kisah singing ke, dancing ke, acting ke, DJ-ing ke, MC-ing ke, atau ape2 ke lah.
Konklusinya, theyre oh-so-talented.
When I first heard of SuperJunior a couple of years back, my initial assumption was one that went something like this:"ugh. 13members? That's too MANY of them and theyre just like any other KPop boy group who are REALLY good looking but can't really sing. At all."
Then, i stumbled on AEC one day and they were showing their live performance in some Taiwan Melody Award Show thingy. And that really changed my view about them. Their stage performance was ze bomb.
In fact, I think that they can sing really well unlike Fahrenheit or some other untalented Taiwanese boy groups.
Not to say that i'm bragging or something, do check out the remix version of Sorry,Sorry that they performed LIVE in their asian world tour concert aka Super Show II.
Loads of harmonization and overlapping of melodies. yumms :)

as the name of the post implies, i would love to point out a few things about all boy groups...
Boy bands.

I would not go full force ahead and strike head on with a "boy bands suck!!" notion i used to have in mind, for there are good boy bands, as they used to be.

For example:

Backstreet Boys
Jackson Five (familiar?)
N' Sync

BUT!

These days, boys band mainly from China, Korea, Taiwan or Japan (mainly, the oriental countries) , have a tendency to...

Have very very large number of people in their group (the record : 13 by Super Junior)
Aimed on producing MVs of high quality BUT always noting their facial features (most, or all)
Posing, Acting cute in an immensely WIDE RANGE of photos
Their singing skills are.... slightly above average but their fans (majority, girls) take their physical outlook to thier liking and effectively, distorted their own vision. (its like their faces are already music to their ears, even for the deaf)
for short, they exhibit Pseudo-homosexuality characteristics.

... that's a brainwashed girl fan sample.

to clear things up, I did not say that they can't dance, nor they can't sing, or act, as a matter of fact. but i am here today to attempt (and had succeeded) proving these individuals

no longer hold taste for the opposite sex.

Campfire Night in Seafield

Megan called us. To seafield, last night.

Event: Campfire Night
Attendees: Me, Sim Hui, Kar Yee, Megan, Chung Yu, Benedict, Beng Kiat, Pei Szan, and alot of other, non-logicallyridiculous people

The theme was pirates.

'Arrr matey ye want in? Lemme see the colour of ye gol' before ye do. AR...'

I expected that much. but a good 89% of the attendees wore nothing like a pirate

anyways i'll share a few bits.

the event was officiated with a performance which included half naked guys taking fire sticks hopping and skipping around.

and, with the burning of a bonfire (with the aid of gasoline)

-Davy Jones Sketch-

The Davy Jones Sketch was okay, the script was well placed, seperated into 4 scenes, each with a main idea to portray

story of Davy jones (flashbacks), he hid a valuable treasure
davy jones' son grew up to become a pirate. joined expedition to retrieve treasure
life on the vessel, land ahoy, and expedition on island
found treasure, betrayer amongst team, Davy jones appeared to defend the treasure (was it?) and scuffled, post scuffle tranquility.

always the pivotal plot twist with that all so familiar voice....

and, most of the BGM are also BGM for the game Kingdom Hearts 1, Chain of Memories, and 2

though nice concept, numerous drawbacks were in place.

The technical problems were.... too much for us to bear, mostly are the Public Addressing (PA) system.

Acoustic feedbacks (sharp and weird sounds) are very very common,
Microphones fail, and the
HUGE NOISE by local audience bared us from enjoying a good performance.

-Band Performances-

not too bad,I found that they were quite good too. but vocals need improvement, ugh.

-FOOD-

When the Emcees announced that we can go for dinner, in that split second,

crowded canteen

Chaos became the order of the day,

as people rushed to get in line and grab food in a very animalistic manner. food was okay.... but i can taste that the fried rice was reheated . yuck.

Orange juice but no plain water. everywhere is always the same. sigh

-Dance Performance-

The intro was.... boring. but quickly spiced up in the middle with dance moves repeated at least once. not too bad either.

it was dark and there's a head.

Never took part, but those who do are seemed to be having a great time.

-Dancefloor Event-

well! after sitting down for some time. the emcee announced that there's a dancefloor event where the stage is opened for the audience to... well,

PARTY!

Club tracks were played, like Boom Boom Pow, Sugar, Low, In The Ayer, etc. This i found contained no flaws but the fact that elderly people weren't taking part..... nah who cares?

so long they (Sim Hui, Kar Yee, Megan, Chung Yu, Benedict, Beng Kiat, Pei Szan, and alot of other, non-logicallyridiculous people) had fun, its okay :P

WE ROCKED DA HOUSE!!!

The Beginning.

We went to sunway uni college to participate in our X-treme game challenge.
We just didn't expect come back smelling like rotten eggs(pun NOT intended at eggy).

The team "LEGION" consisting of the FAB 5 Eggy, Kecheah, Ms.Szan, Bengbeng , and meme registered and went to the auditorium hall, got a briefing>>

every team will be given 100points _ points will be deducted for every challenge that isnt completed _ bonus points will be awarded to the first 5 teams to reach the finishing counter.

then the FIRST CHALLENGE!

SUDO-bloody-KU!!!

3 dangg puzzles.
well.. we managed to complete ONE while wishing for ryan's sudoku ghost to appear.
Khaiee: ehh.. we can snap a pic and send it to ryan. =D
when we heard excited girly shrieks : " EEeee! Wedoneitwedoneit!! "
time was tick tock ticking,
every other team was : AHHHH!! they finished!! skipp skipp!! run!!!"
soooooo we joined the bangwagon too! =)

The SECOND CHALLENGE!

-An apple is hanged from a ceiling at 2.5metres. a member of the team is to bite the apple four times WITHOUT the use of any hands.

what we did was...
in frenzied mood

all of us attempted to bite the flying apple using different moves.
there was
1: The Grab and carry BUTT technique
2: One man Stand on Two thighs technique
3.You-jump-on-my-back-I-carry-you-technique
and lastly The successful one
4:You-two-stand-on-our-thighs-and-bite-the-frigging-apple-already! technique

PLEASE IMAGINE THE FOLLOWING.

the second task was accomplished due to pure Kickass teamwork!

we then ran on to the next few tasks ahead which I cant really remember due to my medical condition know as "Fuzzy memorytus'.

To the LAST CHALLENGE.

-The COMMANDO CRAWL.

Imagine adrenaline fueled bodies crawling furiously under 50metres of low strung barbed wires on an open field full of booby traps and land mines, While sadistic tormentors throw grenades in rapid succession and spray burning acid on your backs and face!

that was what WE had to go through.

yeahh.. that last challenge was a KILLAH.

oh ho. there were teams who even forfeited that challenge!
It was THAT scary.

yet. WE.
The GREAT LEGION with our grenade immune asses lived to tell the tale!

the end. =D

Bwahahahahahahaahhahahahahhahahahaahahahahahaaa

I may have exaggerated a teensy weensy bit.

The land mines were just mud ,
The barbed wire were actually raffiah strings ,
The grenades were eggs ,

OFF team LEGION went! to the finishing line (in our case , it was a finishing counter)

Running like our ass was on fire. We ran and ran and stopped. Then we walked holding our poor tummies, looked around and ran and ran and read the next paragraph below. there's just too much running.

two teams had actually completed the KILLAH CRAWL before us.

Imagine me surprise when the counter lady gave me a card with a big 2 on it.
A pleasant surprise Indeed! :D

Behind me I could hear a guy shouting to his teammate>>
:"OII!! YOU SO SLOWW!! WE COULD'VE GOTTEN SECOND LA WEI!!!"

He was there earlier, but he actually waited for his teammate before he collected the placing!

AHAH! SUCKERSS!

then on to filth removal >>> lunch >> back to the auditorium.

We were resting our poor legs when the Bloodily Round Noisy Woman(BRNW) speaking scrolled down the scoreboard (connected from a laptop to a BIG screen)

The room froze.
Then it registered to me.
Shit
Cow
Phuck.
Legion wasn't in the top 3!!!

Ehhhh.. Waitaminute.
Why the top three the points soo low wan??
Ahaha.. It was in reverse order!!
Legion still has a bloody chance.
Tension siall..
Every head in the room was probably craning their necks till it "POPPED" out of their sockets, while the round noisy woman(BRNW) was slowly scrolling the screen down oblivious to all the broken necks around her.

Relief flooded our hearts.
I could hear Bengbeng and Ms.Szan silently screaming
:We got thirrrrd!! =D=D=D=D"

Well.. the round noisy woman didn't seem so noisy anymore.
She was still round, yes. but no longer noisy.
To me, she had transformed into a Round beautiful angel who was gonna hand us our well deserved GLORY.

To speed things up.
Well.. the glory didn't last long and the prizes wasn't much.
writing NOW. I learnt TWO very important lessons today.

the cliche one being
1. I may have a sore ass that creaks everytime I change my sitting position, BUTTT
Nothing feels better at the end of the day knowing I had a day well LiVED today.
~Superb Teamwork , Awesome Fun amd Great memories.

We ROCKED SUNWAY BABY!!

Her eyes scanned through the papers, making sense of the partially deformed numbers and letters due to the vast number of crease marks on the paper.

Suraya, on the other hand, was nervous. her lips curled to form a much subtle frown, as she followed Pn Vasantha out of the class. All eyes were on them.

We stared in awe, with eye wide open, like the owls. O_O

our lips wanted room, but another pair of glazing eyes fell onto us. Cik Hong was standing between two classes, efficiently scouting for any loose mouth muscles, for it was their standard protocols.

All the time we spent on the paper.

All the fuss about the paper.

Gone.

The bell rang as we were busily thinking of the possible scenarios that would happen next. News spread like mad as the teachers are known to be holding a emergency meeting to discuss regarding steps to be taken next.

All we can do is just wait. and read. and worry.

The waiting came to an end as a moody look Pn Salamiah came in with a stack of papers.Teachers from various classes gathered around her, grabbing whatever necessary papers. We were rushed to our seats and the papers were delivered to our tables one by one, as opposed to the traditional sets.

I noticed the papers exhibit a faint warmth as we quickly arranged our papers according to page sequence, while some (me included) were busily scribbling answers on the papers as much time was gobbled up by the 'discovery' event. I, especially, did not want time to be wasted.

Heck. Even Hell's Gatekeeper has her eyes on us.

As the teachers had given off the final piece, we quickly noted the difference between the 'refined' version and the 'reject' version.

I went straight to makbul* after tuition to satisfy my demanding tummy. Had an introduction to roti pisang by a certain someone!(it's okay-lahh. still.. I'd rather have a fried banana) =]

Oops! haha.. that's entirely beside what I wanna say.

After paying for my meal. with my mind befuddled with thoughts of impending EXAMS DOOM, I was on my wayy home. I was passing through a lorong when -- Unlike my usually alert self- I was suddenly startled to see a limping old man appear on my right. His was cupping his hands showing me the universal sign of "I NEED MONEY!! PLEASEEE! IF YOU HAVE A HEART, YOU GIMME SOME. please?".

It was dark and I was in quite a rush to go home and POOP. soo.. I franticly dug around my pockets for any money to give to the poor guy. I got hold of a coin, and hurriedly dropped it in his hands while my face forced a stiff smile. Then, I walked away. A few metres past the old man, I realized.
I gave him ONLY TWENTY CENTS! what the effing hell can you get for twenty cents?!
I dont know why, but I just walked on home.

Thinking back now. WHY the Fuck didnt I turn back to give him a fiver or a tenner?

Soo people people. dont make the same mistake I did. GENEROSITY is GOOD!

remember that when faced with a tought decision-
INTEGRITY is doing the right thing, no matter how big or small - especially when NO ONE is LOOKING.

Last week was my birthday and I didn't feel very well waking up that morning.

I went downstairs for breakfast hoping my girlfriend would be pleasant and say, "Happy birthday!", and possibly have a present for me. As it turned out, she barely said good morning, let alone "Happy birthday".

I thought... well, that's a dying relationship for you, but the guys will remember. I met up with the dudes, & ate breakfast and but they didn't say a word. So when I left for the office, I was feeling pretty low and somewhat despondent.

As I walked into my office, a good friend of mine, Jane called, "Good morning, happy birthday!" It felt a little better that at least someone had remembered. I worked until one o'clock and then Jane rang me up said, "You know, it's such a beautiful day outside, and it's your birthday, let's go out to lunch, just you and me". I said, "Thanks Jane, that's the greatest thing I've heard all day. Let's go!" We went to lunch. But we didn't go where we normally would go. We dined instead at a little place with a private table. Humans..Do you all really think that perfect is just a word to praise someone..Think about it..For an example,when your friend is scolding a person that gets you on your nerve..It goes fuiyoh in your mind..Perfect..Perfectionist scolding perfectly and satisfying raps about bad words..!@$$%^&*&^$@!%&$..Its just like a song..Haha..Nice to hear huh?

Alright come back to the actual topic..Perfect is actually also a description towards someone that you think he/she is perfect..Perfect or not?It is all depends on you think about it..So now..Close your eyes and think deeply and seriously..No matter what circumstances(tsunami,earth quake,flood or your mom taking parang standing beside you because you have use the computer for long and your mom wants to use to chat with her sapat friends) don't open your eyes until you figure out who is perfect to you..Who cares it is ah gua,homosexual,hetrosexual or don't know what retarded crap..Finish thinking??Now compare it to someone that you hated alot..What do you think?Big difference right??Haha..Here's the reason,this is because the perfect person have already conquered your heart and you will start to think everything positive about that person..Does that make sense?Well some may think it is not but some understand what I'm trying to express..Give a clap to yourself because I also don't really know what am I trying to say..Lol(Pei szan sry ar,I know you want to whack my face and say 'you damn jiajiat,handicapped LAME shit man')..
